"Controlled Burn"
The
M.V.F.D. set a home on fire and let it burn to the ground. During
the fire, firefighters sprayed nearby buildings and trees to keep
the fire contained. Taking approximately 30 minutes to burn to the
ground, the fire was an excellent training experience!

"M.V.F.D. wins the Fireman's Games"
The
M.V.F.D. came in first at the 2000 Fireman's Games held in Stanhope.
The team was 'on fire' as they dominated the competition, earning
the most points and taking the trophy home for the second year in
a row.

"M.V.F.D. rescues severly injured dirt biker"
The
M.V.F.D. rescued a seriously injured dirt biker on a forest access
road off the Hadlington Road. In an expertly coordinated effort
the M.V.F.D. evacuated the man from the treacherous access road
and brought him to waiting paramedics. The man was then transported
to Wilberforce where he was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital.

Volunteer Fire Fighters perform a controlled burn to make way
for Boy Scout facilities.

"Fuel Tanker Fire"
The Driver of a Fuel Tanker lost control on a curve of Hwy 121,
spilling 48,000 litres of gasoline. The resulting fireball could
be seen for miles, and took over 5 hours to put out.

"M.V.F.D. #1 in Haliburton County"
The
M.V.F.D. came in first out of Haliburton County and second over-all
at the 1999 Fireman's Games held in Cardiff. Monmouth came in second
with 36 points, making them the best Fire Department in Haliburton
County.
